Propensity to Self Subversion A Way to Overcome Self Sabotage

All of us in this world have dreams and the means to realize them. Many people have the
potential to become great – great actors, politicians, writers, teachers, physicians, and the list
goes on and on. From the time, we were young, we have always dreamt of becoming
something – anything – both big and small. Do you remember wanting to become a superhero
when you were small? Did you not want to reach the moon or build your own spaceship? Did
you not ever dreamt of fighting galactic battles with space invaders or the likes? All of us have
something we wanted to be at some point in our lives

As we grow older, our dreams become more realistic and pragmatic. We turn to people who
want to become something within our reach. And we still have the potential to reaching these
more down-to-earth dreams. These dreams might be as simple as wanting to become better
people while others desire much more such as success in the financial aspect. All of us hold
the power to become what we want. We can be what we want to be.

However, along the way of trying to achieve these dreams, we become ridden with various
things such as pride that hinder us from accepting other people’s help. We start to develop an
air of ambiguousness about our beliefs so as not to be questioned, committing ourselves to
too many tasks at hand, becoming fickle and indecisive about things that really matter, and
becoming overcome with doubts. All of these undermine out efforts to do better and to
achieve our projected goals. These can all be called self-sabotage. Whenever you get hold
back at work, whenever someone else is promoted ahead of you, ask yourself what the
reason is. There are times when you do not realize your potential not because of the lack of
abilities or the desire to achieve success but because you fear moving forward and accepting
change into your life. Even if you know what you want, you have been holding yourself back
and do not even know about it.

Sometimes you might be caught up in your desires other than achieving what you want. It is
easy to be sidetracked by television or other hobbies, which might hinder your growth. When
you are facing challenging situations, sometimes it is so much easier to just ignore the matter
altogether and retreat inside yourself, protected in your own little sanctuary. After all, facing
challenges, trials, and having to make difficult and life-changing decisions could be very
frightening for anyone. However, if you refuse to see your problems face-to-face, the more
you are buried deep in despair and stagnation, the more you damage your self-worth. And
then the cycle starts again. Do not let this happen. If you put achieving your goal up to later,
you might forget you have done so and come to believe that you do not have the abilities to
reaching your goal.

If you have done any of the above things mentioned, then now you know that you have been
sabotaging yourself. However, do not despair. Remember this point in your life and avoid
repeating it. By culminating self-subversion, you will always know what kind of person you are
and avoid this compromising situation. Always find time to examine yourself and see if you
have been sabotaging your own efforts. Do not be afraid to face ugly facts about yourself for
those are still part of your whole. If you can accept yourself for who you are including your
faults, the risks of self-sabotage is then low and you can be sure you will be realizing your
goals sometime soon.
