Unfoldment of the Great within: Memories that releases the real you
There comes a time in our lives when we have an epiphany and we realize that we do not
really know ourselves at all. We are often surprised by the decisions we make instinctively
and we ponder the actions and moves we make the past day. This sort of epiphany or
enlightenment often leads to us trying to make sense of ourselves. Hence, the best time to
start analyzing ourselves is early in the morning when your mind is still fresh from sleep and
there are no crowding worries that present themselves. Actually, the times that you can spend
on your own or by yourself are great times to discover the person within you.
The individual who wishes to undertake the process of learning about them must be aware of
the emotional upheaval they will go through. Some home truths will be revealed and some not
so nice things might surface. Individuals who try to learn about themselves will have to
analyze and try to remember their childhood because this is the crucial time when we form
our prejudices and opinions about things. Initially, we start by identifying what we conceive
as right and wrong behavior in ourselves. Uncovering or accepting these as part of you opens
the door to self-improvement. It makes you aware of the flaws and strengths of your
character. Further delving could bring you to the reason why you developed these behaviors.
Childhood is the more impressionable age when we are exposed to new things and our initial
impression of these things often stays with us until adulthood. During this impressionable age,
we form opinions and prejudices about certain things. These opinions and prejudices are
brought along with you until adulthood. Some things might happen along the way to change
these opinions or prejudices but initial first impressions are often retained.
Usually, memories from younger days or childhood can help one identify the source of the
behavior development. You may also be able to identify the aspects of the person that is you.
A person is made up of millions of different cells, physically. Mentally, we are made up of
different aspects and memories that mold us as a person.
We are usually influenced by what we see, hear and feel during the more impressionable
stage of our lives and even up to the days when we are already molded into what we are. The
new influence is just added into the never-ending process of developing ourselves. This also
affects the way we think and the way we form opinions. Even our personality is based on what
has occurred during childhood.
On the other hand and because we are constantly changing ourselves to fit our environment,
we add more aspects to our personality. Although, we may retain some of the older
personality or behavior, there are several additions to it that makes it a new behavior or a
variation of the older one. As adults, we may now have a stronger opinion that may override
the initial opinions formed during childhood.
Using subliminal learning to help probe what lies underneath us is a handy tool. This sort of
learning can assist in self-analysis and self-awareness. Although, many experts still argue that
subliminal learning can never be the only way to go when trying to delve into our inner
selves. In reality, adults are now responsible enough to be able to critically view their lives
abstractly. This helps us correct and reinforce the behaviors that were formed during
childhood. We, as adults, may use the memories we have of our childhood as bases of further
learning about ourselves. It could help reconcile the parts of us that we wish to change with
the parts that we already accept and like.
