respects of willpower, it is the competence to employ the strength of will to conquer the
weaknesses or shortcomings of self.

Self-control gives us the strength of mind and motivation we need to manage difficult tasks.

ways include energy builders, such as exercise. Physical and mental exercise is two of the
best choices.

Besides willpower, we must develop self-awareness. In fact, you want to build self-awareness
first because it is the major tool you need to accomplish cultivating self-control. Self-
awareness gives you the power to look inside and learn about your inner self, strengths,
weaknesses and so on.

Focusing on you will help you through the process of self-control development. When you are
focused, you can cultivate other natural, healthy skills, such as self-discipline. This is the part
of self-development that is essential for cultivating self-control.

Self-discipline will give you power over your emotions and situations. An example of self-
discipline is noted in the following example. When a person strikes out at someone because of
something spoken, usually it is because this person has self-doubt. We see this when that
person becomes irritated. This is because the truth is damaging, yet is necessary to take
control of one’s life. Think of a time that you felt angry about something that someone said or
did. Think back and recall your reactions. Did you get angry? What caused that anger? If you
do some soul, searching you will find that this person merely triggered a burning pain that has
buried self in your soul and mind. The problem occurred in your past that leads to the feeling
you have today. Soul seeks, and develops self-discipline so you can take control of your life.
