Personal Growth and Self Control

Self-control is cultivated with personal growth. Some philosophers feel that self-control is
achieved by exercising free will and the personal self. In fact, this is true. We must exert self
to discover who we are. By using our personal abilities and skills, as well as our knowledge,
we can cultivate self-control.

Personal growth is the process of maturing. Many people refuse to leave their inner child
behind so they move through the processes of self-growth slowly. It is almost like a turtle
crawling across a major intersection, trying to reach the other side. The slowness of growth
causes many setbacks.

Therefore, we must work through personal growth and abandon our fears of maturity so that
we can develop self-control.

In the meantime, self-control is something we can practice. By analyzing, becoming aware of
your thoughts when you need to make a decision, you can cultivate self-control. For instance,
if you have spending problem whereas you spend more money than you make, you can
correct this behavior through practice. Each time that you must make a buying decision just
simply ask – Do I need this or do I want this? Examine closely your needs and wants. If you
need the item, then perhaps you may ask why I need the item. By rechecking your needs you
can decide if, you truly need the item.

Anyone with any problem can use this method to cultivate self-control. Other methods may
include the development of understanding differences. By understanding differences, you will
readily accept things you cannot change.

What is human development?
Personal development is the branch of biological processes that describe understanding of
human creation. Our realty roots inside our birth, yet we have to exercise free will and self to
relate to our biological processes. These are natural processes.

Because the human race is blackballed with imperfections it is often difficult to understand our
innate abilities and skills, let alone how the body and mind processes. Still, we have invested
power within that assists us with discovering who we are and what makes us tick. Thus, when
philosophers stated that personal effect and exertion is necessary to establish self-control,
they were right on track. Still, one thing was missed. That is our way of perceiving.

Checkpoints will help you with understanding your perceptions. Get started now instead of
putting it off. First, how do you see self-control and personal growth? Do you see it as
something necessary to achieve, or as a task you dread.

If you see growth and self-control as something you must achieve, thus you have the start of
changing perceptions that may slow your progress.

On the other hand, if you see growth and self-control as a task and something you dread,
thus – go read some articles about abandoning your negative thinking. The world is full of lazy
people. The last thing we need is one more. Laziness – you see things as a job or task and
you will often dread your responsibilities, which means – you miss the grand reward of
knowing you completely.

Self-control is something we all must cultivate. Failing to cultivate self-control often leads to –
obesity, jail, death, disease, negative thinking, lack of energy, disorders, and so on. Take
some time, review the benefits of cultivating self-control and applying your self to personal
growth, and weigh the differences with failure.

Sometimes reality has to hit a person in his or her face before this person will wake up. Near
death experiences, incidents and accidents would reduce if all of us had self-control. Don’t be
the one waking up after reality hits you; rather be the one awake to prevent problems.
