Positive Self-development for Sport and Life: Achieving Strength Training

Playing sports is one of the main ways we can improve or maintain good health. Doing so
doesn’t just increase our physical strength and hone our muscles, but also enables us to
improve our mental strength and personal development. Having a healthy body would allow
us to do more productive things and enables us to find even more ways and methods to
better ourselves. With a healthy body, we are no longer encumbered by any physical
limitations that we may have. We are instead, able to enjoy and appreciate life more, because
we have more opportunities to do so.

One of the best ways to increase physical strength and, as a result, achieve our mental and
spiritual peaks is the practice of strength training. Strength training is the process by which we
are able to increase our muscles and slowly build them up over the course of time, in order to
garner strength. Types of exercises included in this type of training include leg extensions, leg
curls, bicep curls, neck extensions, and abdominal curls. Muscle mass in these areas is
eventually increased, to the point where fat is noticeably reduced, blood pressure is lowered,
and endurance is heavily increased.

As a result, people who partake of strength training always show a marked improvement in
health. They are able to avoid muscle loss, which in turns allows them to retain less fat
deposits in their bodies. Their metabolism also do not slow down, which means that they are
able to retrieve more essential nutrients from the food that they eat, resulting in processing
them faster and lessening overall fat in their bodies. Muscles and bone tissues are also
increased and strengthened, preventing medical conditions and illnesses such as osteoporosis
in later life. Strength building will also result in the lessening of back pain or arthritis that may
set into many individuals as they grow older, which also means that less money will be spent
on medicine and treatments after late middle age begins.

Most people suffer from back pains and early signs of aging, particularly if they lead stress-
filled lives; being able to join a strength building program is also a good way to release some
of the pent-up strength that many people suffer from, as this allows them to release some of
the frustrated energy that is building up inside of them, and redirect them instead to more
healthy methods geared towards improving their bodies.

Aside from the physical health benefits of a strength-training program, there are other
benefits that help individuals in other areas. A proper strength training exercise, kept
regularly, always results in maintaining the virility and vigor of the body. Elderly people
partaking of this program have been shown to be more physically active, and can do more
things than those in their age group that do not exercise at all. It is also a known fact that
strength training makes you feel not only healthier, but also younger, both in body and mind.
Strength training allows people to exercise their minds as well, and continued exercise means
that not only do senior individuals maintain a healthy body ratio, but that they actually look,
act and feel much younger, and have taken more interest and zest in their lives.

Enjoying the benefits of strength training does not only necessarily mean that we reap the
physical advantages of increased muscles and a stronger body. Always keeping mind that the
bones and muscles make up the framework of our body; should anything happen to these
muscles and bone, it is our whole body that suffers as a result. By participating in strength
building exercise programs, we are able to stay healthy, avoid injuries, improve our physical
appearance and improve our self-esteem and our personal worth.
